The study course creates an in-depth understanding of the chemistry of heterocyclic compounds. The student acquires knowledge about the classification and nomenclature of heterocyclic compounds, physical properties, conformations and anomeric effects of aliphatic heterocyclic compounds, structure and chemical properties of aromatic and partially hydrogenated heterocyclic compounds, their reactivity and main methods of synthesis, and role of heterocyclic compounds in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and household chemicals.
