The study course provides in-depth knowledge about the role of quantum physics in the design, production and understanding and prediction of the physical properties of smart materials. The main chapters presented in the study course: general characteristics of smart materials, physical effects of realization of smart materials, piezoelectric, magnetostrictive, electrorheological and magnetorheological materials, shape memory alloys, electroactive materials.
