The study course provides general insight into maritime transport technologies and ensures acquiring theoretical knowledge and practical skills in relation to the impact of loading, placement and cargo nature on the stability and buoyancy of the ship, as well as providing knowledge and skills on cargo loading, placement, strengthening and supervision during the trips on various type of ships in compliance with international regulations and recommendations. Knowledge of hazard caused by dangerous goods, their transport and safety procedures is also provided. An insight into the use of international codes such as IMDG, Grain code, IMSBC, IBC and others, as well as inspecting procedures for ships, cargo premises and cargo equipment are provided.
Teaching methods used in the implementation of the study course: lecture, analysis of practical situations, group work, problem solving situation, visualization, discussions, case studies, work on the simulator, work with cargo operation plans; reading schematics.
The study course complies with the standards of the STCW Code A-II/1 and A-II/2 and includes sections corresponding to IMO Module courses 7.01 and 7.03.
Part-time extramural studies are organized according to an individually developed study plan.
