The course examines the essential maritime vocabulary and terminology through various maritime topics, thus forming the basis of knowledge necessary to work with various texts and instructions during maritime studies and on board. The study course helps students develop reading skills, writing skills, listening skills, communication skills, and note-making skills in a balanced way, combining newly acquired maritime and engineering terminology with useful general English constructions and vocabulary, which will improve students' overall language proficiency and self-confidence. It is recommended to supplement the study course with general English listening and reading exercises, as well as grammar and vocabulary building materials throughout the term, in order to ensure comprehensive use of English in preparation for the exam and to facilitate daily communication on board.
