The study course developes the student's ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in the performance of duties as a marine engineer/electro-technical officer on board a ship using maritime terminology and IMO Standard Maritime Communication Phrases (SMCP). The study course has been developed in accordance with standards A-III/1 and A-III/6 of the Code to the STCW Convention, as well as taking into account the recommendations of the relevant IMO model courses and other binding normative documents. The content of the study course includes the topics of the IMO model course 3.17 "Maritime English" at the intermediate level (Intermediate Level) and the relevant part of the specialized maritime English language (Specialized Maritime English).
