The study course focuses on the concepts and theories of design criticism and their practical learning. Critical analysis of design processes and products plays an important role in the learning process. During the study course the concepts such as: Taste, Aesthetic Principles, Subjectivism, High and Low Cultural Design Descriptions and Oral Analysis, Personality and Design are considered and analysed. The identification of national and global influences takes place through the review of international exhibitions and the identification of the Latvian heritage. Analysis of graphic communications, product design and environmental design enables students to understand their own place and role today. Commenting on new design trends helps to find answers to complex design processes. Copyright, design legal bases, intellectual property protection for students are important indicators of understanding of law and legal protection.
