The study course will present the fundamental principles of general and physical chemistry and their application to chemical and biological systems. The covered topics are structure of atoms and molecules, states of matter, solutions and their properties, thermodynamics applied to chemical and biochemical reactivity, chemical and biochemical kinetics and spectroscopy, purification and separation methods, and introduction to organic chemistry. Mathematical skills to quantitatively describe chemical or biochemical systems and solve simple problems will be emphasized.
