The student shall acquire basic knowledge of the nature of the chemical bonds underlying the construction of the materials and material composition, as well as the methods for studying them. The study course looks at the methods of determining the elemental composition, both by breaking and not-breaking the material, and the control of the manufacturing process by using NIR and Raman spectroscopy. Knowledge shall be gained of research of material composition, construction and properties by using FTIR, UV-Vis, luminescence, XPS, Auger, Mesbauer, and NMR spectroscopy. The student shall acquire knowledge of the methods of chemical analysis processes and material analysis methods. Training is aimed at testing knowledge for practical and theoretical tasks in laboratory work.
