Interpersonal communication and collaboration skills are usually portrayed as mutually exclusive benefits of interaction and scientific skills, meaning that people are almost always better qualified at one level at the expense of the others. However, as they learn STEM communication, it is becoming increasingly important for to communicate effectively with the team and society as a whole is becoming increasingly important. By practising communication skills, students will be better able to ask for help and express what they need, and over time they will develop skills and confidence. In STEM areas, empathic communication is key to success.
