Modernā biomateriālu inženierija(English)(2),23/24-P

The study course explores the fundamentals of advanced tissue engineering, providing insight on biomaterials, biosensors, and bioreactors as well as various applications of tissue engineering, such as the replacement or repairing of skin, cartilage, blood vessels, cardiac tissues, musculoskeletal tissue engineering used for bones and ligaments as well as neural tissue engineering for the brain.
In-depth knowledge in up-to-date advanced biomaterials engineering, including the synthesis technologies, processing, and 3D printing, knowledge on biomaterials pre-clinical tests through using model systems (organ-on-chip) and biomaterials application in biomedical engineering (bioreactors and organ growth) will be acquired. The study course is focused on obtaining the theoretical knowledge and strengthening independent analysis skills of the scientific literature, putting forward concise conclusions, hypotheses, and presenting them. The study course consists of lectures and practical tasks.
