Within the study course, the basics of biomaterials science are examined. The student acquires general knowledge of biomaterials, classed according to their interaction with living tissue (bioactive, bioinert, and biodegradable materials), as well as their properties and use (for substitution, regeneration, augmentation of tissues or to perform a certain function). The study course also covers the current trends and issues in biomaterials science, as well as the basics of testing biomaterials. Purposeful analysis of biomaterials science textbooks and scientific literature is an integral part of the study course.
