The study course introduces the basics of Commercial law and Corporation law, which are required for the students to understand the functioning of the legal framework governing commercial transactions. The study course is designed to create an understanding of conclusion, execution, interpretation and also disputing, annulment or termination of international contracts and the use thereof. The study course also covers the basic notions of Property law and security types, which can be used to secure obligations in international business. The students will also get acquainted with the concept of contractual penalties and interest, damage in tort as well as restitution. Furthermore, the study course will discuss the procedural aspects of the law of obligations and dispute settlement venues such as mediation, arbitration or litigation. During the study course European Principles of Contract Law, CISG and Incoterms will be taken as a frame of reference. Finally, the students will be familiarized with notions of anti-money laundering and sanctions, which are relevant for counterparty checks.
