In the study course students are introduced to the development of textile industry and design products production in Latvia and their role in the Latvian economy. The structure of the industry's manufacturing companies is presented, the most demanded products today and future trends to create new products are discussed. Students are introduced to the division and description of the Latvian higher education system, organization of the study process at RTU and the Institute of Design Technologies. The main differences in the study programmes of the Institute of Design Technologies and the qualification obtained in them are emphasized.
