WPIDS/WPINDEX
World Patents Index (Derwent Subscriber file: WPIDS; Non-subscriber file: WPINDEX) provides information on patent publications from the 40 most important industrialized countries of the world, from the European Patent Office and from the World Intellectual Property Organization. In addition, patent-related information from Research Disclosure and International Technology Disclosure is included. Each record in the database describes a patent family, starting with the new invention (Basic Patent) and adding information about the same invention issued in other countries (Equivalents). Page images are available. There is an online thesaurus available in the Derwent Title Terms (/TT) field in back files and in manual codes (/MC) and Polymer Indexing Enhanced (/PLE) in WPIDS. Bibliographic information, titles, patent family information, and abstracts are searchable. LWPI is a training file for the Derwent World Patents Index.
